movies i will drop anything to watch #3: The Muppet Movie

Photobucket

I have already stated my pure love for Rowlf in a previous post and now, I present you with this. For the record, I want it known here and now that I will watch any movie starring the Muppets. I just watched The Muppet Movie first and therefore, it has a special and dear place in my heart. I wish you could see my keyboard by the end of this post because it will probably be soaked with tears. I love this movie so much, mostly because the Muppets are the most awesome/most magical creatures of all time, aside from my precious llamas. Muppets make anyone feel better and everyone can appreciate them, from tiny babies to old assholes. If this movie is on, I will watch it, no matter what I'm doing. When I first got the DVD, I forced a few people to watch Kermit's scene with the banjo more than once. It's so tight.

I love all the cameos by famous people in this movie. Kermit is chillaxing in the swamp when he is stopped by Cameo #1 Dom DeLuise. He tells Kermit to come to Hollywood. Kermit rides his bike (see above) to the land of dreams, because he just wants to make people happy. Kermit is tight. I mean, who really goes to Hollywood for those reasons anymore? He meets Fozzie Bear, who has a shitty comedy act. Although I laugh at Fozzie's jokes, no one else does, so they decide to pursue greener pastures together. How great is the combo of Kermit and Fozzie? As a kid, this duo made all my dreams come true. I honestly don't know if their performance of "Movin' Right Along" can be topped by anything. I'm dead serious.

Things start to get serious, however, when crazy Doc Hopper sees Kermit and starts chasing him. He wants to get Kermit to do ads for his stupid frog-leg restaurant, but probably also wants to eat Kermit and so for that, he is a horrible, horrible villain in my book. CAN'T HE SEE THAT KERMIT WANTS TO MAKE PEOPLE HAPPY? What a d.a. So basically, Kermit and Fozzie pick up a lot of crazy people along the way, and it all makes me super happy. Also, the details are getting foggy but I know somewhere along the way Gonzo hooks up with a chicken. Sick. Anyway, they meet some of the best characters of all time, including the Electric Mayhem (should be top of the charts, Dr. Teeth is the biggest badass of all time, and Janice = supposed to be Joni Mitchell?) and Miss Piggy, of course. In ninth grade, I found this book at a used book store called Miss Piggy's Guide to Life. It was published in 1981 and it hasn't left my side since I bought it. It has taught me everything I know about how to live like a queen. This is pointless information but it just proves how much I love the Muppets.

A bunch of really bananas stuff starts happening, and I'm getting hungry so I can't write it all out. I suck at blogging. But Mel Brooks shows up as a mad scientist type and Miss Piggy gets kidnapped. I remember some kind of crazy shootout sitch happening sometime after this. If you have never seen this, I want to encourage you to watch it immediately, and if you have seen it, go watch it again with a glass of limeade and a bowl of edamame. I swear you will be proud and happy you did.

Here's Kermit singing Rainbow Connection for all you non-believers. Get the tissues ready.

I also feel anything and everything muppets closer to my heart than my own siblings. In the 7th grade I taught myself how to play Rainbow Connection on the piano...that and moon river, but b-fast at tiffanies has nothing to do with the muppets unless by a stroke of genius the Muppets made a parody of that movie staring piggy and kermit.

Actually that would be amazing.

I also thought that Kermit was the original singer of Kokomo and still prefer his rendition.

A Muppet's Christmas Carol is my favorite Christmas movie hands down next to White Christmas.

I'm posting again immed. When I was a kid I had two dreams:

1) Be a Muppet designer.

2) Be an animator for Disney.
